Answering the Whys

Hbr 8:10 For this [is] the covenant that I will make with
the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will
put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts:
and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Hbr 8:11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour,
and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all
shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

Luk 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart
bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of
the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is
evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

I was flipping through a book the other day and something caught
my eye. It was speaking of teaching our children the "moral"
issues of why or why not we allow or disallow them to do
certain things. This really struck a note in my spirit, because
I know I have found myself telling my children, "because I said
so" a remark that used to drive me nuts when told to me, by my mom.

Often it is easy just to say we dont do that, or we dont do
this, but we really should be taking the time to explain, why
we do or dont do those things. What kind of effect those things
have on us for eternity. You know I think of the times that my
kids asked "why" a million times a day, and how irritating it would
get. But now I see the value of explaining why. If we develop
within our children an understanding of how sin affects and infects
their lives....then our job as a parent is made easier.
So this week take a little time and answer those "whys"

The Blessings of Being a Parent

Pro 23:24 The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice:
and he that begetteth a wise [child] shall have joy of him.

Pro 23:25 Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she
that bare thee shall rejoice.

OK, lets face it, there are days that we are NOT rejoicing, over
our children. There are days that retirement from parent hood seems like a very very GOOD thing. I mean I know personally
there are days that I just call my mom and say "dont you want to
see you grandsons?" We all have our trying moments, even with
children who are good children, who are obedient, and respectful,
there are days that they drive us to distraction. But on these days,
what are we to do? The Bible says it like this.

Psa 107:27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a
drunken man, and are at their wits' end.

Psa 107:28 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble,
and he bringeth them out of their distresses.

ON days we are at our wits ends, we are to cry out to the Lord, he
will bring us up out of our distress.

The best thing that I can do as a mother for my sons, is to
remember, some important things...1. This time can never be
regained, and secondly am I willing to sacrifice this time for
a "tantrum" or "lecture" and thirdly are the things that are setting
me off, just kid things....or are they truly things that are
harmful to their spiritual well being and/or physical well being.
Weigh the options.....yes that motorized car is loud, or that
game is very rambuctious....and yes, you have a head ache...but they
are kids..... and when they are older you will NEVER be able to
bring back those days. Already my boys are getting too old to
want to sit in moms lap, and I miss those days.

You know the Lord considers and SO should we that our children are
our blessings.
Psa 127:3 Lo, children [are] an heritage of the LORD: [and]
the fruit of the womb [is his] reward.

Psa 127:4 As arrows [are] in the hand of a mighty man;
so [are] children of the youth.

Psa 127:5 Happy [is] the man that hath his quiver full of them:
they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with
the enemies in the gate.

So on days that you are not feeling very "blessed" remember these
verses...and go give your little blessings a (((hug)))!!

For Such a Time as This

Psa 78:5 For he established a testimony in Jacob,
and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our
fathers, that they should make them known to their children:

Psa 78:6 That the generation to come might know
[them, even] the children [which] should be born; [who]
should arise and declare [them] to their children:

Deu 4:9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy
soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine
eyes have seen, and lest theydepart from thy heart all
the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy
sons' sons;

Deu 4:10 [Specially] the day that thou stoodest before
the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me,
Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear
my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that
they shall live upon the earth, and [that] they may teach
their children

The Lord established a law concerning children. This is
a law that many people have disregarded. Even church
attenders and Christians, have discarded this law.....
they have give up the responsibility of teaching their
children. Too often they send them to Sunday school
expecting the teacher there, to teach their child the
ways of the Lord, and then the children are sent off to
school to be taught the 3 R's.
So am I saying that it is a sin to send your kids to
public school.Of course I am not....but I am saying that
we are neglecting a instruction of the Lord....when we put
our job of teaching and training our children onto other
people. Sunday school is a great place for children
to learn, but the home is the BEST place they will ever
learn of God and His goodness. Schools are good.....some
better than others, but I would not trade anything for my
experiences with my boys in our homeschooling adventure,
for free tuition to the best schools in the country.
These are times that cannot be replaced, or brought back.
You know I look at my boys and think......they will only be
this age, one time in their life....I am so blessed that
God has enabled me to bewith them at home...so that this
time is not lost to me. If you are wavering, trying to decide
if homeschooling is right for you, consider all these things,
ask the Lord to lead you, into HIS truth and HIS will for your
life.

This week take some extra time and be thankful to the Lord that
you areable to homeschool, that these special times are times
you are experiencing.

Training up a Child

Ephesians 6:8
Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same
shall he receive of the Lord, whether [he be] bond or free.
Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when
he is old, he will not depart from it.

OUR jobs is to train our children.......as homeschooling
moms we have taken the time to pray and seek the Lord
concerning our children's education. And we have been led
to homeschool. For me homeschooling is about providing
the best education I can to my children. To train them up
in the ways of the Lord.....not the ways of secular school
life. I do not condemn any who choose public school, I
just know that for us, this is our God "directed" mission!
So in looking at homeschooling as a JOB, then I should
strive to do the absolute best I can.... after all when
you work in a manufacturing job,you want your "product" to
pass Quality Control. Our children aka "our products" have
to pass the ultimate QC inspector GOD, and thus we should
be giving our best to our homeschooling efforts.
Remember this as each day you begin your school day....
IT makes life so much easier to strive to do your "job"
with excellence. ~Cindy~

NO GREATER JOY THAN TO NURTURE

3Jo 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my
children walk in truth.
Psa 127:3 Lo, children [are] an heritage of the LORD:
[and] the fruit of the womb [is his] reward.
Continuing on with the thought of raising our children...
The Father gives us our children.....they are ours for the
raising. In our church we dedicate our babies....and we
dedicate ourselves to raising them in a Godly fashion. The
Lord desires for us to raise and train our children in
his ways. The word children is in Bible 1803 times, and
we also see the word child 201 times. God
has placed a "premium" on us becoming his children....
but he also places a premium on the raising and nurturing
of the children he blesses us with. We are told in Eph 6:4
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but
bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
So how do we "nurture" our children. This is probably one
of the most important things we can do for our children.
Scientific studies have shown over the years that children
brought up in abusive homes tend to be abusers....well the
opposite should also prove to be true....children who are
nurtured should be nurturers, also. So what is nurturing?
This is what we find in the definition in the Strong's
1) the whole training and education of children (which relates
to the cultivation of mind and morals, and employs for this
purpose now commands and admonitions, now reproof and
punishment) It also includes the training and care of the body
2) whatever in adults also cultivates the soul, esp. by
correcting mistakes and curbing passions.
2a) instruction which aims at increasing virtue
2b) chastisement, chastening, (of the evils with which God
visits men for their amendment)
WOW......that is all encompassing......the WHOLE training and
education of children....BOY is that not the description of
HOMESCHOOLING!!! I totally loved that definition!
So ladies my challenge in this weeks devotion is to be a
"nurturer"
